TWIN UNDUCTED FAN AIRLINER

SPRING 2020

Facing sweeping oil crises and rising operating costs, airlines of the mid-1970s searched desperately for an efficient, modern transport. Engineers answered with the UDF, or Unducted Fan engine, which featured a high bypass ratio and incredible fuel efficiency.

Within a decade, American manufacturers were flight testing UDFs and were preparing mockups of full production aircraft.

However, fuel prices stabilized, and interest in UDF engines dried up.

What if external circumstances had prevailed, and an airliner prioritizing range, low operating costs, and fuel efficiency had entered regular airline service?

The Haraña TC-100 is my answer. ▨
