A tool removed from its context, final measurements taken and experiments fulfilled, becomes an artifact of its own research purpose, and of the field which made it.

‘Acolyte’ is an homage to the wind tunnel model, whose formal meaning and standalone complexity are equally beautiful.

The aircraft, bronze cast fuselage and forward-swept aluminum wings, is maneuvered by a slip mechanism atop a cherry base light. A miniature monument, this piece is a testament to both aerospace research and to its own production, as it used nearly every fabrication process I have learned as an industrial design student. ▨
